Alan St. Pierre is the Director of Operations for our Fresenius Kidney Care Team, overseeing clinics in the Northeast region. He started as a Dialysis Assistant while with FMCNA while he was still in college. He later utilized the tuition reimbursement program to get his nursing degree and climb the ranks to make it to his current role. We are so happy to call Alan a member of the FMCNA family. Learn more about his career journey below!
LET'S HEAR WHAT ALAN HAD TO SAY:
Q: Why did you join the FMCNA team?
A: I initially joined the FMCNA team to gain patient experience while I was finishing up my Sports Medicine degree. I have stayed with Fresenius Medical Care because I care deeply about our patients and love working with great people.
Q: How do you feel that your role is a “vital part” in supporting our patients and our company?
A: I have held numerous roles and feel all roles in Fresenius Medical Care are vital in supporting our patients and our company. My role is vital in supporting our ‘Maine Team’ to feel that they have the ability to make a difference, to feel comfortable making decisions, to have a team in place that is able to be successful and ultimately have the resources to take care of every patient, every day. I feel very fortunate to be a part of a great Team in Maine and New England.
Q: Describe an experience or feeling that stands out when thinking of your career with FMCNA.
A: I started at FMCNA as a Dialysis Assistant, shortly after I became a PCT and year later enrolled in nursing school. FMCNA supported me during nursing school, I was able to utilize the tuition reimbursement program, worked the Nocturnal shift so I could attend class during the day, and this allowed for me to support myself financially during this process. I was able to gain knowledge and confidence, worked as a Team Leader and IPS RN. I eventually became a Clinical Manager, 4 years later I accepted the Regional Education Manager for New England, then became the Group Director of Education for the Northeast Group. 3 years ago, I rejoined the Maine Team as the Director of Operations. The positions I have held, allow me to support our Team, gives me a greater appreciation of what our staff does every day, and gives me perspective when decisions are made.
I have been very fortunate to work with great people, have many great mentors and been given countless opportunities to grow professionally. I have had many ‘great teams’ that have taught me a great deal, are a major part of my success and is why I am where I am today. I tell people often if I didn’t work with great people, I would have left within a year, it was never my goal to be nurse, to work in dialysis, it was my goal to help people. Fresenius Medical Care helped me find my path to help people.
I have also been fortunate to have great supervisors, people who truly cared about me and were vested in my future with Fresenius Medical Care. All of them made an impact on me and this drives me every day to try to make a positive impact on those that I work with.
