LET’S HEAR WHAT NEAL HAD TO SAY:

Q: Please list your career progression with FMCNA

A: I first began as a HPSM (Hospital and Patient Services Manager) for Fresenius Kidney Care. After 2.5 years in that role I was introduced to the possibility of working with the Renal Pharmaceuticals group selling Velphoro.

Q: What do you love about your job?

A: I have the ability to bring joy and positivity to a space that is sometimes hard and beaten down. In my previous role I was more centered in the hospitals working with case managers. This didn't have me closer to the patients and helping with their success. The best part about selling Velphoro other than the amazing people I get to interact with every day is when I hear a story of patient success. Every week it seems I get a story from a dietitian or clinician where a patient had been sad, negative, and lacking presence in the clinic for months. They just couldn't see anything positive in their situation. Well they start Velphoro and the next labs that come out show they are in range, for the first time, maybe ever. A beaming smile pops onto the patients face as the dietitian hands them their labs. This is what I love about the job, the ability to bring that joy to someone. To make their life filled with gratitude if just for a short time.

Q: What do you love most about your team?

A: Oh my goodness! My team is incredible. We've really become a unit that holds so much abundance that we truly work every week to make each other better. It all starts with Paul our fearless leader who is the best boss I have ever had in my life. Not only does he provide the perfect balance of hands off and hands on but has a perspective on possibility that makes me work better and better every day.

Q: How have you influenced change or made an impact in your role?

A: I believe so. Every month or so myself and Erika Londrigan have started a series called "Making Magic" where we dive into the mindset techniques and tricks which can help our business. These things have seemed to translate over the country as more people are reaching out to discuss these things. When it comes to our professional environment with my customers I feel as though I am able to bring this magic making to their door step to build deeper relationships. Something I feel I have changed as a perception of "reps" and Velphoro in general.

Q: How has your career evolved or continued to inspire you since you started at FMCNA?

A: It has been an incredible journey both personally and professionally. I took it upon myself to take outside courses focusing on transformation and mindset in business which has only helped in moving towards this astronomical growth I have seen in the past few years. At first it was "Neal, become friends with everyone in dialysis" now it's "Neal, how have you become friends with everyone in dialysis?"

Q: How do you feel that your role is a "vital part" in supporting our patients and our company?

A: In my first role as a HPSM we would say "what is good for the patients is good for Fresenius". This is true. However working with Velphoro and being so connecting to the real impact this drug has on these patients truly feels vital.

Q: What is your favorite story or memory of your time so far working at FMCNA?

A: Oh man I have too many to tell and I am a talker. In a work sense it would have to be my transition from HPSN to Velphoro. This was NOT done on my own but was a collection of internal people meeting each other as far away as Texas, communicating on what they were looking for, and sticking their necks out for someone they only spoke to on the phone. The people who were involved with that are now my GM and another has gone on to become a VP. The thing that is crazy about this whole process, which took months and so much manpower came down to one ridiculous thing at the interview: my tie. I decided that if I was going to do this that I was going to be myself 100% and not pretend to not be a surf kid from SoCal. The interview went wonderfully but my boss still to this day remarks how I am the only person he ever offered without a tie on. I guess it worked out in both our favors.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering a career at FMCNA?

A: Dialysis is a small world. Get in, get to know everyone and everything then get to blast off into your dream life.

Q: If you had a superpower what would it be, and why?

A: Other than being Kelly Slater? I'd forever be 26 years old physically but continue to grow mentally. I've been injured on and off since I was 27 so having that easily recovered body with what I know now....anything is possible. Plus Id like to breath under water and have perfect intuition.
