Fresenius Medical Care Goes Above and Beyond
Tropical Storm Barry hit the state of Louisiana and Fresenius Medical Care didn't miss a beat!
Thanks to the tireless efforts and unconditional caring of the staff at our clinics in Franklin and New Iberia, LA, our patients were able to continue receiving the exceptional care they've come to expect from Fresenius Medical Care. Throughout Louisiana, our clinics worked hard to care for as many patients as possible before the storm hit. However, it became clear that extra effort was going to be needed to ensure all our patients received the treatment they need and deserve during and after the storm.
Always putting our patients before themselves, our clinics in Franklin and New Iberia, LA were fully staffed through out the storm and through the weekend. This was despite many of our staff not having power at their own homes. It is this selfless attitude that makes Fresenius Medical Care such an amazing place to work and one of the best providers of dialysis and renal care in the world.
Jerry Reynolds, one of our proud social workers, lost power to his home when a tree from his neighbors yard fell onto the power lines, leaving him and his family without power for several days. Seeing the response from disaster relief workers and from Fresenius Medical Care had a power effect on him and his family.
Jerry also partnered with fellow social worker Phyllis Babineaux to book hotel accommodations for our staff as well rent generators so our clinics could remain open and fully functional. Both Jerry Phyllis knew it was important to lead by example. It was important for them to show that Fresenius takes care of its employees so they can take care of their patients.
Every team needs a strong leader. The leader of our South East Louisiana clinics is Director of Operations Kristie Pellerin. Kristie worked around the clock during the storm and its aftermath to ensure that all her clinics were fully staffed, fully functional, and that the staff and patients were well taken care of. Kristie visited both our Franklin and New Iberia clinics to make an assessment of what was needed. She purchased supplies for both clinics and booked hotel accommodations for staff that needed a place to rest. It is during times of crisis when people will look to their leader for guidance. Without a doubt, Kristie stepped up, led by example, and showed why Fresenius is not just a collection of employees, but a family of people who share the common goal of providing world-class patient care.
Being that our patients depend on the care they receive at our clinics to continue living full lives, Fresenius employees are well trained to handle disaster relief situations. It is not often that these skills are put to use thankfully, but they are always there when needed. The type of disaster relief training our employees receive encompasses all facets of patients care. During their efforts, our employees at our South East Louisiana clinics were able to provide patients valuable reassurance by not only providing the life saving treatment they need but by also providing verbal reassurance, confirming their contact information, finding out their plans for the weather event, and giving the hurricane information packets. To our Area Technical Operating Manager, Pap LeBlanc, the readiness of Fresenius does not come as a surprise.
Fresenius Medical Care is tremendously proud of the passion and hard work displayed by all our employees at our South East Louisiana clinics during Tropical Storm Barry. It is efforts like these that have earned us our reputation of providing unwavering patient care. It is reassuring to leadership and our patients that nothing will stand in the way of achieving our common goal: saving, extending, and improving the lives of our patients every single day.
