Meet one of our proud Travel Nurses, Tina Baber!
Kristina “Tina” Baber always had dreams of becoming a Travel Nurse. She has been a Registered Nurse since 2003 but held off on transitioning into a Travel Nurse role until her children we finished with school. In 2017, her youngest daughter graduated high school and her husband retired from the police department, the timing was perfect.
By 2017, Tina had been a dialysis nurse for two years. It was through working in this field that Tina heard about the Travel Nurse program at Fresenius Medical Care North America. Naturally, Tina was nervous about leaving her home clinic in New Haven, IN but the excitement of the new adventures she and her husband would experience and the people whose lives she would help improve every day gave her the motivation she needed to join the program. She started the process in September of 2017 and by January of 2018 she was already traveling to her first assignment in Atlanta, GA.
Tina was assigned to Grady Hospital and was trained in Acutes. It was at this time when Tina realized that not only was she going to get to travel to and experience many new places and people, she was going to learn a vast array of new and valuable career skills. The dialysis team at Grady Hospital was very welcoming and excellent teachers. By the end of her contract, Tina was training other Travel Nurses!
Before she knew it, it was time to start looking for her next assignment. Tina spotted an opening in her dream location, Hawaii. She put in an application, thinking she would most likely not be chosen since the location was so desirable. Much to her surprise and delight, she got the assignment and she was off to Hilo, Hawaii.
Tina was assigned to Liberty, Dialysis in Hilo, HI. This was the largest clinic she had ever worked at. She encountered the normal mixture of nervousness and excitement before her first day, but it was not long before she felt like part of the team.
Tina is not alone in her experience; the Fresenius Travel Nurse programs allows all members of the team to explore. They explore not only the country but also their career, meeting and learning from colleagues and patients along the way.
Our Fresenius Travel Nurse program is always looking for more “Tina’s”, dialysis nurses looking for an adventure and to go where our patients need them most.
