Meet Amanda

Amanda Smartt is a Home Therapies Market Manager who worked her way up from an LPN to establishing change at Fresenius Medical Care North America. Four years and a Nursing Degree later, Amanda is still growing within her career and helping others grow theirs. 

LET’S HEAR WHAT AMANDA HAD TO SAY:

Q: Why did you join the FMCNA team?

A: My best friend of twenty-plus years was the incenter manager and for years had begged me to apply to Fresenius Medical Care North America, though the hours of an incenter clinic did not work with the lifestyle of being a single mother. Finally, an opening at her clinic in home therapies became available and she convinced the Director of operations to interview a LPN for the position and I was offered the position that same day. I never imagined being a dialysis nurse and now I couldn’t imagine being anything else!

Q: How do you feel that your role is a “vital part” in supporting our patients and our company?

A: As a Home Therapies Market Manager, my role allows for the fostering of a stronger staff and more welcoming environment within our clinics. This creates the opportunity to guide new managers and staff which reflects in both quality and practices that benefit Fresenius Medical Care North America and our patients as a whole. This also aides in growing home therapies while promoting a more efficient, effective, and cooperative working environment.

Q: Describe an experience or feeling that stands out when thinking of your career with FMCNA, it could be in relation to one of our four pillars (below) or simply a story that describes why you do what you and why you choose FMCNA to do it with.

A: In a role that is only filled by a Registered Nurse, Fresenius Medical Care North America took a chance when hiring me as a Licensed Practical Nurse almost four years ago. That one chance changed everything for my family and myself. As a full-time employee, I was able to take advantage of one of the many benefits offered and complete my RN degree and within three years of being hired I was offered the Home Therapies Market Manager position. Even today, Fresenius Medical Care North America and my supervisors continue to support me in my professional growth to further my career with the company.
