Meet Genaro
Genaro Negrete is an Operations Manager. Genero uses his military background to instill confidence in his team. The self-confidence allows them to support each other as they tackle the day to day challenges. Hear more about how he has used his military training with FMCNA.
LET’S HEAR WHAT GENERO HAD TO SAY:
Q: Briefly describe your military service
A: I originally enlisted as a boat mechanic in the Army Reserve. When it was clear that we would be supporting operations in Iraq, I volunteered to go full time, Active Duty. In doing so, I opted to change my occupation to Combat Medic. I served the next ten years as a medic. I had the opportunity to support Military Police, Artillery, and Infantry elements through three deployments to the middle east. My last assignment was as a clinic manager at the main hospital on Ft. Hood here in Texas.
Q: What does it mean to bring your military experience to FMCNA?
A: The military teaches us to find solutions, even when the problem seems insurmountable. That experience helps us keep a clear focus on outcomes to ensure we’re supporting the larger team. Bringing that to FMCNA means focusing on what matters most in a way that keeps the company moving toward our goals.
Q: How do you see FMCNA leveraging your experience, how do you see your experience propelling your success?
A: Any service member can tell you that our capabilities are rooted in training. Not only did we train in our technical duties, we simulated, as close as possible, the environments in which we would be expected to succeed. This means thriving outside of our comfort zone and contributing to the team success, no matter what. I focus on instilling self confidence in my team, knowing that they are experienced individuals that bring their unique perspectives to the table. That confidence allows us to support each other as we tackle challenges day to day.
Q: How is FMCNA committed to supporting veterans?
A: FMCNA is supporting veterans through the Veteran Employee Resource Group. This is a veteran-led community within FMCNA that provides mentorship and resources for veterans.
Q: Why did you join the FMCNA team?
A: I was impressed by the interview process at Fresenius Health Partners. Not only did I meet with Human Resources and the hiring manager, I also had a chance to speak with leaders across the department, some of them veterans themselves. It communicated a company culture that values input and feedback with an emphasis on diversity.
Q: How do you feel that your role is a “vital part” in supporting our patients and our company?
A: The team I work with strives to help patients engage with their health care. These includes booking appointments, finding doctors, or securing medical equipment, all within their current health plan. Leading these teams provides an opportunity to show our patients that their health care team doesn’t end at the clinic.
Q: Have you experienced professional growth with personal meaning in your role? If so, how?
A: Leaving the military is a time of great uncertainty for any service member. I had never worked in a corporate environment before Fresenius Kidney Care. Being among a group of dedicated team players contributing to something bigger than themselves, whose total impact is greater than the sum of its parts, is something I resonate with. The people I’ve had the privilege to work with have shown me that this environment is not too different from the one I left.
Q: Do you feel you or your team/department leads, innovates, succeeds? If so, how?
A: My team is constantly looking for ways to improve and innovate. We are among the first to pilot a new process or provide feedback on a new approach. The understanding is always that the patients benefit from our ability to be better, day in and day out.
