A Culture of Gratitude and Support

Today, and every day, Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA) is grateful for our colleagues, especially those providing font line direct patient care during these trying times.  Because of our colleagues, we can deliver superior care that improves the quality of life of every patient, every day.  We have also created a culture of gratitude, where our colleagues show support and appreciation for each other.

Melissa Vidrine, Clinical Manager for one of our Fresenius Kidney Care clinics, is not shy about sharing her gratitude towards colleague Keisha Bodin.  This is one of the many examples of our culture at FMCNA.  We recognize, respect and appreciate those who work along side us.  Here is the touching story of friendship and support between Melissa and Keisha.

Keisha Bodin and Melissa Vidrine

From Melissa:

"I can't say enough about this woman right here!  Her story is inspirational, her faith unshakable, and her determination admirable!  She started her career with FMCNA as a Patient Care Technician, she worked over 20 years as a CCHT, during this time being a devoted wife and mother to her 3 boys.  She made her way through nursing school and has been working as my only 40 hour nurse at Sunset #2927 over the last several years.  I am so happy to introduce you to Ms. Keisha Bodin, the newly appointed Clinical Manager of the soon to open Broussard clinic.  Congratulations Keisha, we are so proud of you"

Keisha's story:

Keisha Bodin RN, began her career with Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA) as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in 1996 at the tender age of 19. Her journey began in our North Lafayette, LA clinic where she cross trained as a Reuse Tech.  She transferred to Breaux Bridge, LA after getting married and in 2007 she transferred again to the Sunset, LA clinic where she called home for several years.  During her time in Sunset, she grew not only her work family creating bonds that would support her for years, but she also welcomed welcomed three boys to her growing family.  Her desire to grow and learn led her to nursing school, all while continuing to work as a PCT and juggling her duties as wife and mother.  Keisha graduated with an ADN in May of 2016 and transitioned from PCT to Registered Nurse (RN), remaining at the Sunset clinic.

Keisha brings a wealth of knowledge with her into the Nephrology Nursing role with 20 + years of DPC in the dialysis field. Keisha has been the only fulltime nurse in the Sunset clinic over the last 4 years and she has soared. Her boys are now 21, 18 and 14 and she is ready to move onto the next chapter in her career. She has accepted the position of Clinical Manager at the soon to open clinic in Broussard, LA where she will oversee a 25 chair unit with a soon to be added home dept. She will be missed at the Sunset clinic Sunset, but the bonds she formed there could not be happier for her new adventure.

Keisha has proven her care giving spirit, supporting her colleagues, her patients and her family while pursing the dream to run her own clinic.  Keisha is one of the many colleagues that we are grateful for.

Let's hear from Keisha:

Q: Why did you join the FMCNA team?

A: I was working in a nursing home when my friend told me about Biomedical Applications. I thought, “I love our elderly community, I’m already serving them, so why not.” I knew nothing about dialysis at that point and needed training. This was in 1996.

Q: Describe an experience or feeling that stands out when thinking of your career with FMCNA.

A: I began my career in 1996 as a Patient Care Technician, now, here we are in 2020 and I was recently hired as the Clinical Manager for our new Broussard clinic.  I’ve been at the Sunset location for 13 years, so there were many tears about this relocation, but I’m also so grateful for the opportunity to lead the clinic.  The cards and kind words from the staff and patients have been so humbling.  I’m honored to be part of the FMCNA family, and I’m excited about our continued growth and service in the community.  I couldn’t be where I am today without the support of my husband, my family and my work crew. Everyone has encouraged me and taught me something along the way. I'm proud to work for this company.

Q: How do you feel that your role is a "vital part" in supporting our patients and our company?

A: I feel that our role as staff nurses are so vital to the success of our company. Success with our patients brings success to our company. We provide important care and medications, but more importantly we give careful attention to our patients and nurture them, we practice empathy, we educate all patients, and a I make it my personal business to know my patients by name to make sure they know they are more than a patient; they are a priority.

Q: What do you want your colleagues to know or someone considering a career with FMCNA?

A: Anyone who thinks they don't make a difference, you do.  So don't stop doing what you're doing.  They notice and they appreciate everything.
