Meet Kristina

Kristina Nardone is a Clinical Manager who began working for Fresenius Medical Care in July of 2018. Kristina found her meaning in life working as a nurse. Read on to learn more about why she loves working here and how she puts her athletic background to work as she leads her team here at FMCNA!

LET’S HEAR WHAT KRISTI HAD TO SAY:

Q: Why did you join the FMCNA team?

A: I joined the FMCNA team because I saw the commitment and investment they put into their employees. FMCNA wants their employees to succeed and grow within the company, which is apparent from all the opportunities they have available. The possibilities within FMCNA, to me, seem endless, which is what attracted me to the company.

Q: How do you feel that your role is a "vital part" in supporting our patients and our company?

A: As a family member of someone who suffered from End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), and now working with ESRD patients I know that they not only rely on us for exceptional care but they consider us family. I feel it my responsibility to be there for them and provide the highest quality of care I can and the expectations set by FMCNA make that possible. My role is to lead a team of individuals that hopefully share the same vision as me which is providing all-around professional and compassionate care to our patients.

Q: Describe an experience or feeling that stands out when thinking of your career with FMCNA?

A: Since I started at FMCNA I’ve been in the mindset to do my best and keep exceeding my own goals and expectations. I had always wanted to be in a management role, and FMC saw that and supported me, and gave me the tools to succeed. I come from an athletic background with a strong focus in organized sports and college athletics. That, coupled with many years of coaching has helped me in all aspects of my current role in the facility in terms of communicating and setting goals for my team.
Dialysis is unique in the way that it’s very team-oriented. We all need to work together to be as efficient and effective as possible and we’re only as strong as our Patient Care Technician (PCT) with 20+ years of experience to our new RN that just passed boards. Everyone has a part on the team and given the tools to succeed and excel as far as they want.

Q: Do you feel that you have a powerful effect in your role? If so, how?

A: I believe there is a difference between power and effectiveness. You can be powerfully effective in many ways, but personally I like to lead by example and there’s never anything I would ask another team member to do that I myself wouldn’t do or wouldn’t step in to help out with. I think that makes a real difference in leadership, for example when you see someone in a management role that will without hesitation stop and help out, it shows that we are all in this together sharing the common goal of providing quality care for our patients.

Q: Have you experienced professional growth with personal meaning in your role? If so, how?

A: Being in this role and working for this company means a lot to me because nursing was not my first career choice or degree. I decided to pursue nursing after a bachelor in arts degree where I didn’t feel fulfilled, I disliked going to work every day, and just didn’t have any meaning or passion in what I was doing. I became an RN and immediately got a sense of meaning, and working at FMCNA I can truly say is my calling.
