Meet Lisa

Lisa Pierce is a Patient Care Technician who knew she was meant to serve others at an early age. She enlisted in the US Army Reserve at age 18, where she served 8 years while continuing her education in healthcare. When she was offered a position at Fresenius Medical Care, she was given an opportunity to serve her community outside of uniform, and now she couldn't imagine doing anything else as she loves each and every one of her patients.

LET’S HEAR WHAT LISA HAD TO SAY:

Q: Why did you join the FMCNA team?

A: I joined the FMCNA team to make a difference in the lives of patients through exceptional care.

Q: How do you feel that your role is a “vital part” in supporting our patients and our company?

A: The role of PCT is very important. Our patients rely on us to get them onto treatment safely all while promoting a much independence and dignity as we can give them.

Q: Describe an experience or feeling that stands out when thinking of your career with FMCNA.

A: From an early age I knew I was meant to serve others. At the age of 18 years old I enlisted in the US Army Reserve, where I served 8 years and continued my college education in healthcare. I graduated from Brookline College Tempe with an amazing opportunity to intern at FMCNA. I immediately jumped at the chance, because I researched FMCNA and felt that our values fit the values I have to a T. I worked an overnight job while on internship and pushed myself beyond what I thought I could with the help of amazing preceptors, managers, and patients. I told the Lead educator RN that I would be back after my internship was over, and sure enough after applying and waiting anxiously I was offered a position. I was offered an amazing chance to serve the community outside of the uniform. Now I couldn’t imagine not doing this, as I love each and every one of my patients. I am excited and so very thankful to continue my growth with FMCNA.

Q: Do you feel that you have a powerful effect in your role? If so, how?

A: Yes, I do. I feel that my patients feel comfortable enough with me to share stories, worries, fears, and the like with me. I do my very best to open the pathway for them to feel safe and that someone cares for them.

Q: Have you experienced professional growth with personal meaning in your role? If so, how?

A: I have learned a level of dignity to give my patients. I promote them to be educated on their body
and treatment, and to do for themselves however much they can with no judgment on how long it may take or anything like that. I encourage them every treatment to finish and to make up for missed treatments.

Q: Do you feel you or your team/department leads, innovates, succeeds? If so, how?

A: When I arrived at my clinic it felt like going to Basic training all over again, but my team has helped me to fit in and to get to know our patients better.

Q: Do you feel that your role allows you to be a partner in caring? If so, how?

A: My role is to care. My number one job is to provide safe and exceptional care and treatment. We can treat the patient, yes but if we don’t care for them then are we truly treating the patient as a whole?
