 Meet Brett

Brett Flick is a Business Analysis Manager and has been with the Fresenius Medical Care North America team for 9 years. Brett has made a significant impact on not only the company but also his colleagues by getting involved in many COVID related projects and keeping his team connected during these challenging times. Below is Brett’s story, learn how his position plays a vital role in the lives of our patients as well as the colleagues who work beside him.

LET’S HEAR WHAT BRETT HAD TO SAY:

Q: Why did you join the FMCNA team?

A: I was a recent college graduate looking for an opportunity to join and grow with a great company. I enjoyed my interview process and was luckily offered a job.  

Q: How do you feel that your role is a “vital part” in supporting our patients and our company?

A: My team supports the leaders of our field operations team. We work to provide insight into various areas of our business, including profit and loss statements, treatment/growth analysis, and other special projects. We strive to offer them high-quality deliverables that help them make the right choices for our business and our patients.

Q: Describe an experience or feeling that stands out when thinking of your career with FMCNA

A: I joined FMCNA shortly after graduating from college and have now been here for eight years. There are several reasons why I’ve stayed, but the biggest is that our company exists to help improve our patients’ quality of life. Although I’m not in the clinics directly affecting our patients, what I do indirectly supports them. There is never a day where I wonder why I’m here doing what I’m doing. I know that even on days where things may not go as planned, I can still take solace in the fact that what I’m doing is ultimately helping other people that are in need.

Q: Have you experienced professional growth with personal meaning in your role?

A: I began my career with FMCNA as a patient account representative in one of our revenue centers and now oversee a team of 8 analysts on our Business Analysis team. The opportunities I’ve been granted with this company have been great, and the people I’ve worked with even greater. I believe I’ve experienced substantial professional growth as I began my career as an individual contributor and now have shifted focus to building up the careers of those around me.

Q: How has COVID-19 impacted your role? 

A: Aside from moving to working remotely vs. in office, my team has gotten involved in many COVID related projects. Those projects span from helping manage COVID patient and employee tracking mechanisms to helping quantify the financial impact of this pandemic we find ourselves in.

Q: How has the transition to remote work been? 

A: The transition to remote work has gone smoother than I anticipated. My team has done a great job staying connected and not letting these challenging times result in a decrease in productivity. I work very closely with my team and that hasn’t changed since moving to working remotely. We often have one on one meetings throughout the week and encourage each other to participate in video conferences when able.

Q: What was it about FMCNA that attracted you – you mentioned you were looking for a “great company”, what made us great?

A: I knew FMCNA was the global leader in dialysis services, so that was a big selling point. Working for a company that is dedicated to improving the quality of life of their patients seemed like a very rewarding job, and it has proven to be just that.
