Meet Hayley
Hayley Allinder is a Registered Dietitian with the FMCNA team who has had quite the journey. She decided to leave the FMCNA organization and decided to come back just a few months after. And we are delighted to have her back! Read more below to learn more about why she decided to stay.
LET’S HEAR WHAT HAYLEY HAD TO SAY:
Q: What made you initially choose Fresenius Medical Care and an employer?
A: During my Dietetic Internship, I was an intern at a Fresenius in Hickory, NC. After a few days, I knew I wanted to be a Renal Dietitian, and I also believed in the Fresenius Mission Statement and Core Values.
Q: What played into your decision to leave FMCNA?
A: The main reason I decided to leave was my commute to one of my facilities was over an hour, and after a while, that started taking a toll on me. I also felt that Registered Dietitians had minimal career advancement opportunities within the company, but I no longer feel that way.
Q: What opportunities did you pursue outside of FMCNA? Please speak to what impact this experience had on you/how it compared to your time at FMCNA.
A: Before becoming a Renal Dietitian, I had worked in LTC and SNF. I went back to what I knew. In these types of facilities, you work with multiple health conditions.
Q: You are now back at FMCNA – how did that happen?
A: After about a month after I left FMCNA, I knew I made a terrible decision. I was fortunate that the position I left at FMCNA was still available, and I reapplied. I had in-depth conversations with my Clinical Manager and D.O. about rejoining the team, and I am thankful that they accepted me back into the FMCNA family.
Q: What impacted your decision to return to FMCNA?
A: I loved everyone I worked with and the support from my CM and D.O. It is challenging to grow in your career and also as a person when you’re not supported. FMCNA is also a fantastic company and tries to help employees as much as they can. I learned very fast that most places are not like that.
Q: What has your transition back into FMCNA been like? Are you happy to be back? If so, why?
A: My transition was very smooth. I had only been gone for six months, so I stepped back into my role as if I had never left. Since rejoining the FMCNA family, I have made some facility transfers, but I love it! I am so happy to be back with my FMCNA family again. I love being supported and also supporting my coworkers daily. The teamwork in my facilities helps and encourages our patients, and at the end of the day, we are all focused on the best outcome for our patients.
Q: What would you say to someone considering a return to FMCNA?
A: Everyone has a different experience. I’ve heard many people with similar stories to mine. I love being back with FMCNA, and I hope you would too!
Q: Do you feel that you have a powerful effect on your role?
A: As a Dietitian, I am the primary person that educates patients on their lab values and what they should do to improve their health and outcomes.
Q: Do you feel you or your team/department leads, innovates, succeeds?
A: I work with a fantastic team at both of my facilities. We all work together to help the patients as much as possible. We have open communication, which I think is extremely important when working in a team.
