 Meet Jamie

Jamie Bull is the Senior Manager of Digital Media for the FMCNA team and he loves how doing his job makes him feel like a vital part of FMCNA patient's lives. Digital marketing is the component of marketing that utilizes the internet and online-based digital technologies such as desktop computers, mobile phones, and other digital media and platforms to promote products and services. Jamie's role means bringing awareness to patients who may need our services the most. And he does not take this responsibility lightly! Read on to learn why Jamie feels like working at FMCNA is very different than other healthcare organizations.

LET'S HEAR WHAT JAMIE HAD TO SAY:

Q: Why did you join the FMCNA team?

A: I joined NxStage in 2017, leading the home hemodialysis digital marketing strategy. After the merger with FMCNA, I transitioned to the FMCNA digital marketing team to support paid media across the company. It has been exciting to leverage my experience growing home hemodialysis with NxStage with other FMCNA brands while getting exposure to other areas of the company.

Q: How do you feel that your role is a "vital part" in supporting our patients and our company?

A: I feel lucky to be in a role that has such a direct connection to patients' lives. The projects that I lead drive the adoption of life-changing products and therapies, and are a positive influence on an industry that is going through significant changes.

I've had multiple digital healthcare marketing roles throughout my career, but none have given me as strong of a connection between the work that I do and the impact that I have on patients' lives.

Q: Describe an experience or feeling that stands out when thinking of your career with FMCNA.

A: One of the things that initially drew me to a career in digital marketing is how metrics-driven it is. So much of what I do online can be measured to make sure that I am achieving the desired goal. I love that sense of accountability. The downside is that digital marketing in the healthcare industry can sometimes focus more on numbers in a spreadsheet than real-world patient impact.

That hasn't been the case with FMCNA and NxStage.

For example, we promote cookbooks through Fresenius Kidney Care to help patients maintain a kidney-friendly diet or create campaigns about home dialysis so that more people are aware of the potential health and quality of life benefits.

I have the opportunity not just to get to know many kidney patients, but share meals with them, learn about their families, and how their treatments have impacted their lives. I get to learn more whether they are pre-dialysis, treat in-center, at home with PD or HHD, or have received a transplant. Being able to build so many personal relationships with patients has kept me grounded in my 'why'.

Q: Have you experienced professional growth with personal meaning in your role?

A: Digital media is often seen as the spotlight to draw necessary and deserving attention to the powerful work that others are doing across the organization. A great example of that is a campaign that I ran to support the 2019 Global Annual Medical Report. It is an excellent summary of some of the work done by FMC's best and brightest on cardiovascular disease management, transplant waiting lists, and acoustic fingerprinting.

Playing a supporting role in major projects like the Annual Medical Report exposes me to new ideas. It is fulfilling knowing that I'm drawing industry attention to the innovative work being done inside FMCNA.

Not sure what "acoustic fingerprinting" is? Check it out.

Q: Do you feel you or your team/department leads, innovates, succeeds?

A: The FMCNA digital marketing team has a great mix of creative thinking, technical expertise, and ambition to challenge the status quo. Working across the entire company allows us to readily share best practices and make the best use of everyone's skillsets and resources.
